Seedbank

 

The Far South Coast Community Seedbank collects local native seed and makes it available to people undertaking re-vegetation projects. The Seedbank also aims to promote biodiversity through education and dissemination of information about local plant communities and re-vegetation techniques.

 

What is the Far South Coast Community Seedbank?

 


All seed is collected following ethical guidelines adapted from Florabank’s code of practice.
 

Reliable source of documented provenance seed for nursery growers, businesses and individuals interested in growing plants from seed.
 

Controlled temperature and humidity seed storage.
 

Accurate identification of plant species.
 

Recommended species lists developed for revegetation projects.
 

Comprehensive seed catalogue available on request.
Information and workshops are available (on demand) on any aspect of plant identification, seed saving or storage.
 

 

 

How can I benefit from the Seedbank?

Access a large range of native seed.
Become a seed collecting volunteer and receive on site training.
Offer your property as a site for native vegetation seed collection by the seedbank officer.
Obtain information and attend workshops through the seedbank on how to collect, store, save and propagate locally native seeds.
